There are weddings you photograph, and then there are weddings you experience, the kind that unfold over multiple days, across multiple venues, weaving together two families, two cultures, and a love story that deserves every bit of the celebration surrounding it. The fusion wedding of Surbhi and Travis was firmly, beautifully, in the second category.
Spanning two days of celebrations across some of Dallas and Fort Worth’s most distinctive venues, Surbhi and Travis gave their guests and their photography team a front-row seat to what a multicultural wedding looks like when it’s done with intention, elegance, and a whole lot of joy. For those of us behind the lenses, it was the kind of assignment you don’t forget.
The Welcome Dinner and Sangeet at Howell and Dragon Dallas
The celebrations began the evening before the wedding at Howell and Dragon in Dallas, where the welcome dinner and Sangeet set the tone for everything that followed. If you’ve never attended a Sangeet, imagine an evening where both families shed whatever formality they arrived with, music fills every corner of the room, and the dancing starts before dinner is even finished. Howell and Dragon provided a warm, atmospheric setting that was perfectly suited to the energy of the night – intimate enough to feel personal, grand enough to honor the occasion. The decor by RAO Factor Decor was already making its presence known, threading cultural richness and visual warmth through every detail of the evening. Wedding planner Dream Geplant by DP Patel had orchestrated the timeline and logistics with seamless precision, the kind of invisible excellence that only becomes visible when you imagine what the evening would have looked like without it. DJ Lakha kept the dance floor relentlessly alive from the first note to the last, which at a Sangeet is not a minor contribution, it is the entire heartbeat of the night.
The Sikh Wedding Ceremony at the Gurdwara Sikh Sangat, Euless, Texas
The morning of the wedding brought a reverence and stillness that stood in beautiful contrast to the night before. The Anand Karaj – the Sikh wedding ceremony – took place at Gurdwara Sikh Sangat in Euless, Texas, a sacred space where the ceremony is as much a spiritual journey as it is a wedding ritual. The Anand Karaj, meaning Blissful Union, centers on four ceremonial circles around the Guru Granth Sahib – the Sikh holy scripture – each accompanied by the singing of the Lavan hymns. For Travis, walking into that sacred space and participating in one of Sikhism’s most meaningful rituals was a quietly profound moment. For Surbhi, dressed in the rich tradition of a Sikh bride, it was the ceremony she had always envisioned. As photographers, we work with care and deep respect in sacred spaces like Gurdwara Sikh Sangat, moving quietly, staying present without intruding, letting the ceremony tell its own story while we document it honestly and artfully.
Hair and makeup for the bride was flawlessly executed by Pooja @MakeupandhairbyPOOJA, whose work gave Surbhi the kind of bridal look that photographs beautifully from every angle, luminous, intentional, and true to her vision for the day.
The Reception at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel
By the time the reception began at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel, the energy had shifted again – this time into pure celebration. The Renaissance provided an elegant and expansive canvas for RAO Factor Decor to work their magic, and work it they did. The room was a study in visual storytelling, florals, lighting, and design elements that honored Surbhi’s cultural heritage while creating an atmosphere that felt welcoming and inclusive for every guest in attendance, including Travis’s family experiencing many of these traditions for the first time.
Dream Geplant by DP Patel had ensured that the evening flowed with the kind of effortless momentum that disguises an enormous amount of behind-the-scenes coordination. DJ Lakha, reunited with the dance floor from the night before, needed no warm-up, the reception became exactly what a multicultural wedding reception should be: a room full of people from different backgrounds finding common ground in music, food, laughter, and the shared joy of watching two people begin their life together.
The Photography Team
Capturing a multi-day, multi-venue, multicultural wedding requires more than one set of eyes and more than one camera. The William Bichara photography team for Surbhi and Travis’s wedding included Arturo Ramirez and Navi Bajwa Studios – each bringing their own perspective and expertise to ensure that no moment, from the quietest sacred ritual at the Gurdwara to the most exuberant dance floor moment at the Renaissance, went undocumented. Working as a coordinated team across venues and timelines, we approached Surbhi and Travis’s wedding the way we approach every multicultural celebration – with curiosity, respect, and an absolute commitment to telling the complete story.
